A&E orders 'Be the Boss' series
A&E has given a seven-episode order to "Be the Boss," a reality skein born of the good fortune bestowed on an employee featured in a 2010 episode of CBS' "Undercover Boss.""Be the Boss," from "Undercover Boss" shingle Studio Lambert, will revolve around a competition between two employees of a franchise-based company. The employees think they're vying for a promotion, but in fact the winner will be handed the keys to a franchise or new branch of their own.The project was initially shot as a pilot for CBS last year, but with slots for new shows on CBS hard to come by, Studio Lambert's Stephen Lambert and Eli Holzman set their sights on cable. The inspiration for the hourlong show stemmed from the 2010 episode of "Undercover Boss" that featured 7-Eleven CEO Joe DePinto. DePinto was so impressed by the work ethic he saw in Igor Finkler, a 7-Eleven driver from Texas featured in the episode, that a few months after the seg aired, he made the Russian immigrant the head of a 7-Eleven store of his own.A&E sees "Be the Boss" as a good fit for its aud at a time when the job market remains incredibly difficult for many Americans. The show is a little more competition-based than most of A&E's fare, but it's grounded in the realities of the workplace, said David McKillop, A&E's exec veep of programming."Given the mood of the country I think it's going to resonate strongly," said McKillop. "These are not fantasy jobs. This is a competition that takes into account hard work and intelligence, and shows the kind of skill sets that someone needs to run their own business."McKillop emphasized that Studio Lambert's track record with "Undercover Boss" convinced A&E that the producers could pull off "Be the Boss," which will require a high level of secrecy among participants in the show and strong relationships with corporate America.Lambert and Holzman are exec producers of "Be the Boss" along with McKillop and A&E's Drew Tappon and Nicole Reed. Scott Koondel, prexy of distribution for CBS TV Distribution, played matchmaker between Studio Lambert and A&E. A&E owns the show and will handle international distribution. There's no word yet on a premiere date. Studio Lambert is now finalizing the corporate participants for the first batch of episodes.Holzman echoed McKillop's thoughts on the show's potential to tap into the national mood at a moment that has spurred the Occupy movement and other protests over the divide between the haves and have-nots in the workplace."With 'Undercover Boss' we realized that we'd struck a chord with a show that brings the 1% face-to-face with the 99%," Holzman said. "We think this is just the beginning. We want to continue to put a positive message out there about the American entrepreneurial spirit." Contact Cynthia Littleton at cynthia.littleton@variety.com

"The Arab Spring really began there," stated Bardem. Bardem is viewed on the telephone, trying to tie lower interviews in vain.Despite 4 years of efforts, Bardem stated no Moroccan was willing to take the record about why the nation has blocked a referendum, purchased through the Un, on Saharawi self-determination."We attempted government authorities, intellectuals: Everyone declined to talk,Inch stated Bardem."The down sides we experienced function as a metaphor for a realistic look at the Sahawaris," stated Longoria.Profits around the film will be delivered to education or health orgs within the Western Sahara, he added."Sons" is created by Bardem's Pinguin Films, Longoria's Morena Films and Candescent Films within the U.S.Spain's Canal Plus has acquired "Sons," Longoria stated.Wild Bunch has struck pre-sales and can initiate a sales campaign in Berlin."But simply opening in Berlin is large, a lot more than we have ever imagined," Bardem stated. Ricky Martin Brings the Duende to Glee Should He Return?
Vanessa Lengies, Ricky Martin and Naya Rivera Ricky Martin made his Glee debut Tuesday and the "Livin' La Vida Loca" singer proved not only that he's sexy and he knows it, but also showed himself to be a guest star with mucho potential. Martin played David Martinez, the night school Spanish teacher who can sing, dance and roll his Rs so fast it makes Mr. Schue's head spin. After David explained the advantage of learning foreign languages through song, and shared his own hopes to start a night school glee club, Mr. Schue (Matthew Morrison) welcomed David to New Directions to help promote his latest nugget of whiteboard wisdom - latin week. Watch full episodes of Glee Although no one can ever hope to rival the nutty brilliance of Holly Holiday's Mary Todd Lincoln impersonation, David proved an equally worthy rival for Mr. Schue when it comes to teachers who the kids love. David has the moves and he knows the language - apparently unlike Will, whose hands seemed glued to his Spanish-English dictionary throughout the episode. Above all he was pretty darn inspiring (read: funny!) as an ex-teeth model who just wants to give the world something more lasting than his pearly white grin. Despite his best efforts, including a slammin' matador outfit, Mr. Schue eventually gave in to haters (dang, Santana, why you gotta be so mean?) and stepped down as Spanish teacher. This not only means that Will gets his own shot at impersonating Mary Todd as McKinely's new history teacher, but that David will be taking over in the Spanish department - and that news coincides with a report that producers would like Martin to return as early as this spring, and possibly down the line as a series regular. So we ask you: Do you think Martin would be a good permanent addition Glee? Vote in our poll and sound off on Martin's performance and the episode in the comments below! Do you want Ricky Martin back on Glee? Yes, the show could always use more duende No, one bilingual performance of "Sexy and I Know It" is enough, and doesn't Glee already have 72 other characters to service? vote view results

Last season, Jack's wife Avery (Elizabeth Banks) was kidnapped in North Korea while on assignment, and forced to marry Jong-Il's son. Executive producer Robert Carlock says Jong-Il's death will eventually be addressed, but not until later in the season. Check out the rest of today's news "We sort of went back to the script, because we'd already shot eight or nine episodes, and we realized that luckily we hadn't referred to Kim Jong-Il by name yet - just to North Korea in general," Carlock told US Weekly. "We can't go back and address the changes there, but the fun puzzle is turning around and trying to figure out how to get her out of there and how to continue things." Carlock says they're looking at the possibility of having Margaret Cho reprise her role as North Korea's late leader, who died in December. "Maybe we'll have to have Margaret Cho showing up again having faked her death, because she wants to get a gig on a morning talk show," he said.

Who Should Direct 'Paranormal Activity 4'?
Today, the presence of "Paranormal Activity 4" was introduced -- not too shocking thinking about the franchises hefty recognition with fall crowds. The newest installment completed a tough trilogy, which begs the question of the items an additional film could touch upon that wouldnt feel trite or done. Audiences might be tired of Micah and Katie with this point, and also the series trademark found footage look hasnt received any serious updates. It may be time for any serious rejuvenation, and that's why we emerged with this particular listing of some company directors you want would get the interview. John Contractor Contractor hasnt directed a properly-received horror movie shortly -- not since 1995s "Within the Mouth of Madness," or maybe youre more cynical, 1988s "They Live." But hes still online resources the genre, getting established films like "Halloween and "The One Thing with lengthy, haunting shots lower abandoned hallways and dark roads, the sensation of danger always nearby. That might be ideal for "Paranormal," also it would surely give his status a go within the arm for modern audiences. Takashi Miike This really is this type of lengthy shot that it is almost not really worth talking about, but consider how great this is as it were: Miike understands how to balance guttural horror with abject on-screen violence, as hes proven in "Ichi the Killer" and "Audition." Hes also an hugely serious director, one that would have the ability to sap the "Paranormal" franchise of their goofiness and imbue it having a more dark, more chilling vision. May possibly not be considered a tough cost audiences -- in the end, theyre just searching for a larger scare. Sadly, theres much more of an opportunity of me getting an opportunity to direct, as Miike is off in Japan chasing after their own ideas. But writers can dream! John Erick Dowdle Dowdle has previous knowledge about found footage films -- he directed the unreleased "The Poughkeepsie Tapes" (seriously among the creepier and much more original concepts in the genre), in addition to "Quarantine, the American adaptation from the heralded "[REC]." Knowledge of a genre always helps, but Dowdles movies come with an energy and coherency that demonstrate hes not only simply taking a jump scare. Even "Demon" would be a little fun, that can bring me to... M. Evening Shyamalan Wait, wait, hear me out. The "Signs" director hasnt designed a hit in an exceedingly very long time, mostly because everybody knows to sit down tight and wait for a Act 3 twist. (The half-cooked concepts about killer trees havent assisted.) But Shyamalan still understands how to set a tense scene -- "The Final Airbender" aside -- and given a pre-existing idea like "Paranormal," he is able to render it hugely creepy, like several of his movies have felt at some point or any other. The excitement from employing this kind of infamous director wouldnt be considered a bad factor, either. Who'd you decide to direct the following "Paranormal" movie?
